Yeah, I may be on fire but the dog got it alot worse
Now that the shock has worn off and I am no longer scared (and almost not shaking anymore) I am just pissed. No…more like PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I almost got dog bit, just not 20 minutes ago. I was on the last leg of my route when out of no where comes a huge blond lab out of the woods. I am thinking lab…how mean can he be? Well let me tell ya! Meaner than hell!!!. I tried talking to him but no, he didnt stop. He came up out of the gully and right at me. I’m going uphill so I drop the bike in low and give it hell. Well so does he. So I am trying to keep an eye on him, keep my bike up and load my pepper spray. Yeah, try doing that with him grabbing at your shoe. It took 3 times spraying him to get him to stop. He charged once, I sprayed and he stopped. Thought to myself thank God. Nope, he lets me get some distance and here he came again. Sprayed again (I’m not sure I hit him those two times) but he stopped again. Almost to the top of the hill screaming all sorts of stuff I’m gonna have to ask forgivness for later and that bastard started after me again. This time I said f” it, stopped in the middle of the road and gave him hell with the spray. That did it. I hauled ass home. Parked my bike, grabbed my keys and went looking. If I could have gotten my eyes on him I was calling the cops. Yup, I am in the country but we do have a law against aggressive dogs running lose. But no luck. No where to be found. Damnit. When Tom gets in we are going looking again. I sure wish I could find the owner, he and his damn dog could go to jail.
But why am I on fire? Well once I got back home I realized I also have sprayed myself. I guess trying to keep on the bike and shoot behind me caused me to get into my own line of fire. Right across the right side of my face, down my neck and my right hand. Put me under a fluorescent light and I’m gonna glow blue. Damnit, damnit. I have extremely sensitive skin and this will burn me, like a sunburn or worse. But THANK GOD I didnt get bitten. Especially since I cant find him.
Besides that the bike ride was nice but now I am scared to go back on that same route. I cant go thru that again. Now where? I guess I’m gonna have to start loading up my bike and going to the river park. No dogs down there.
I’ve had a good diet day, no problems and got in a good workout at the gym. Probably burned off a good pound fighting to get my fat ass up that hill before Kujo got me. Better see a HUGE loss this week.
Dont forget Biggest Loser tonight, only 2 more episodes left. Who is gonna win??
I’ll be back later to go thru my messages, I’m not ignoring my buddies I swear! But right now I gotta go walk off this nervous energy, my hands are shaking again. Later guys.
I’m so glad you had some pepper spray–I never even thought about carrying something like that on my walks.
What about putting something on that so it doesnt burn so bad? Aloe vera is natural and they sell it in spray form for sunburns and stuff. Good luck with that!
So glad you did not get bitten!! Be careful out there girl!!
WOW!! I am glad you are ok!! Man, dogs just pop out of nowhere sometimes. I have to say that my lil’ shih tzu HATES the sound of ANY wheels (skateboards, bikes, skates, etc) and will break his neck tryin’ to get after the poor soul riding on by. I have to be very diligent…like the owner of the dog that nearly bit you should have been! Scary.

Okay, I am SOOO sorry this happened to you but OMG you are sooo funny! Ha Ha Ha. Damn dog! You know, as nice as labs are (I have one and he is a super sweetie) some of the MEANEST dogs I have encountered were labs! I think the owners can make them that way. My ex’s brother’s dogs were killed by black labs—they attacked them in their own yard—two of them, beagles. So sad. I am glad you survived! I am excited about the Biggest Loser too. I dont wanna be mean, but I dont want Mike to win… Since Kristin is gone, guess I will be rooting for Tara. Hope you feel better fromt hat damned pepper spray!
LOL oh my god I don’t mean to laugh because Id be shitting my pants of fear but you write it down so funny. That must have been really scary though and its so weird it was a lab that did it. Although it’s probably the owners fault for making him like that. Good for you to have pepperspray at hand. I should get some too, running everywhere. I really hope you find the dog and the owner before the dog really hurts someone. I bet you are going to feel your muscles tomorrow riding up that hill so fast.
Yeah Karin, I did think I was gonna need a change of drawers when I got home. I think the only thing that saved me was my bike seat being shoved up my ass!
And yall dont worry, I am laughing about it too…now. But I agree about the lab part. I’ve never owned one but I know alot of folks who do and they are normally lovable and dopey. But you are right Beck, you can make any dog mean if you treat it bad enough.
Thanks for the advice about the aloe Deb, to be honest I didnt even think about that! I think it was too busy being angry!
Stacianne, I have a pug mix that thinks she is a huge mean lab. We always said if she had a body to match her attitude we would stay tied up in lawsuits. She really does have small dog syndrome!
Oh…I am with you Becky, GO TARA! Now that Mike has decided he is GOING to win, I dont want him to either. I dont like that ‘tude!
I knowm, heis so SMUG and his smelly dad is sneaky… Can you tell I have no hard feelings, right…
Man there is nothing scarier than a lose unknown dog after you….glad you escaped!
I KNOW THAT THE STORY WAS NOT FUNNY BUT YU SURE MADE ME LAUGH!! I AM GLAD YOU DID NOT GET BITE. WE LIVE OUT IN THE COUNRTY AND I AM NOT ONLY SCARED OF DOGS BUT OTHER WILDLIFE TOO/ SO I UNDERSTAND . STILL YOU ARE SOOO FUNNY . HOPE YOU HAVE SOME LUCK FINDING THE OWNER!
I missed this one…OH MY GOSH! So glad Kujo did not get a hold of you…how scary! I have a yellow lab…actually he is a mix and actually he is now with my husband…he is protective and barks…but as soon as someone is close enough he’s waggin his tail looking to see if you have food and a belly rub. Im so sorry that happened to you.
We have an old farm across the road from us…our road is good to walk on but that farm has 3 BIG BIG dogs that are loose sometimes…mainly at night. They have not bit but are extremly intimidating and as a matter of fact my youngest had a run in with them last week. I do not like owners who let their animals run loose…its just wrong.
So glad youre ok…hope you can laugh about it at some point
Im rooting for Tara too…have not like Mike or his Dad for quite a while now. Sneaky snakes…
